Established in 1999 , this small but vibrant spot contains some amazing bonsai examples, Some even 1,600 years old. all the plants have been donated -It is run by committed volunteers, including the Hillside Garden Club - all the soil used lovingly on the plants comes directly from Japan -another reason to visit Lake Merritt.
