Plum Bar


Plum Bar is one of Uptown Oakland's most sophisticated bars. It is located next to the famous Plum Restaurant, which ranks as one of the top dining experiences in the entire Bay Area. The venue has a hipster feel and a good part of the place looks like an alchemy lab. Many of their beverages are house-made including specialty beers and bourbons. The seating is limited but if you are in the neighborhood, it is a must--an intimate alternative to nearby bars.

Rotary Peace Grove at Tilden Park

High atop the hills of Tilden Park sits a serene sanctuary known as the Rotary Peace Grove. This section of the park was donated to Berkeley Rotary in 1955 when they began planting redwood trees. Each year, a different tree is dedicated to a leader in world peace and bronze plaques are displayed with the honorees' names at the base of each tree. The members of the Rotary club prune and  clean up regularly to help preserve the magic and the beauty. The hike to the grove makes a wonderful outing for the entire family.
