The Met in New York City


Yes, it is true that in the Bay Area we are exposed to  some great  art.  However, the best is yet to come when you visit the Met in New York City.  Founded  in 1870, it is the largest art museum in the U.S. with over two million art works, second most visited in the world next to  Le Louvre in Paris. Situated next to Central Park it takes up over two million sq. ft.

Rotary Peace Grove at Tilden Park

High atop the hills of Tilden Park sits a serene sanctuary known as the Rotary Peace Grove. This section of the park was donated to Berkeley Rotary in 1955 when they began planting redwood trees. Each year, a different tree is dedicated to a leader in world peace and bronze plaques are displayed with the honorees' names at the base of each tree. The members of the Rotary club prune and  clean up regularly to help preserve the magic and the beauty. The hike to the grove makes a wonderful outing for the entire family.
