Mulberry's Home is a lovely new home furnishing store on Piedmont Ave., at the location of the old Piedmont Ave branch of the Oakland library.
Recently, I visited the store and spoke with Chad Olcott, the owner of Mulberry's Home. Chad speaks about the inspiration behind his store:
High atop the hills of Tilden Park sits a serene sanctuary known as the Rotary Peace Grove. This section of the park was donated to Berkeley Rotary in 1955 when they began planting redwood trees. Each year, a different tree is dedicated to a leader in world peace and bronze plaques are displayed with the honorees' names at the base of each tree. The members of the Rotary club prune and clean up regularly to help preserve the magic and the beauty. The hike to the grove makes a wonderful outing for the entire family. Restaurant Pick of the Week Left Bank Brasserie at 55 Webster St. in Jack London Square. This authentic fine dining French restaurant with an elegant interior and tantalizing outdoor area is a real plus for the Oakland Waterfront. Try the escargots, duck confit, trout almondine, niçoise salad or the multitude of other French delicacies - you will be delighted - it is a real oo-la-la.
